Jane Spencer

Nurse Practitioner

Jane has been a Nurse for over 35 years. She has had a varied career beginning with both working and living in Northern Ontario working in remote Indigenous Communities. Here she functioned in a nursing station setting, working as nurse in charge and managing the Well Women’s Program. It was in the North that she developed skills for working with patients with mental health challenges, crises management and suicidal crises care. She continued to work in the North on short contracts until last year. She describes working in the North as an incredible life experience that has become the basis for her ongoing passion for her work with patients during all facets of their health care journey.

Jane returned to York University to attain her Nurse Practitioner certification and graduated in 2006. She has been working at the Community Health Centre’s of Northumberland for the past 16 years where she independently manages her rostered patients from across the lifespan. She has spent time working at Cornerstone Family Violence Centre and runs weekly clinics at Alderville First Nation. Her interest’s lies in women’s health and mental health counselling. She is currently training as a Gender Affirming Care specialist – working with patients who are transitioning has become a new passion for her.

At Hello Counselling, Jane will work with clients seeking care for ADHD. She will complete comprehensive assessments to provide accurate diagnoses and implement effective treatment plans for individuals aged 18 and older. Once diagnosis has been determined and treatment is recommended, Jane will closely follow and monitor each individual’s journey to ensure stability. Her goal is to provide compassionate, consistent care by working with the client as a partner in their health care. It is very important to Jane that each client is part of the decision making process as this team-approach will always result in positive outcomes. If further treatment is necessary, Jane will discuss options with the clients and together they will make plans for additional services and supports as necessary.

Jane brings her easy going nature, her sense of humour, and her positive outlook to Hello Counselling and she is excited the opportunity to work with clients in our community living with ADHD who are seeking care and management.
