ADHD Assessments

An ADHD assessment is a specialized evaluation to diagnose Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in individuals. Typical ADHD symptoms can include inattention (difficulty focusing on tasks, easily distracted, forgetfulness, and frequently losing items), hyperactivity (restlessness, fidgeting, difficulty staying seated, excessive talking, and constantly moving around), impulsivity (acting without thinking, interrupting others, difficulty waiting for turns and making impulsive decisions), poor time management and organizational skills, difficulty following instructions and completing tasks, and difficulty with planning and prioritizing tasks.

An ADHD assessment typically involves gathering information about the individual’s medical history, developmental milestones, behaviour patterns, and academic or work performance. The assessments may include interviews with the individual, parents, teachers, and other caregivers, as well as standardized rating scales and behavioural observations.

The results of the ADHD assessment will guide the development of a personalized treatment plan, which may include behavioural interventions, medication, and support services to help the individual manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life. Ongoing follow up will help to ensure that progress continues to be made in daily focus, task completion and impulsivity.

This service is coming to Hello Counselling in the fall ’24.
