Decrease Your Stress and Feel Better With These 10 Tips

Prolonged or repeated occurrences of stress can cause many physical illnesses including heart disease and diabetes, but it can also effect your mental health. Some people may experience increased anxiety, memory impairment and depression. It is important to understand what is causing your stress and try to avoid it, or change your way of processing those situations that are causing the stress, if possible.   1. Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation. 
  2. Engage in regular physical activity, such as exercise or yoga, to reduce tension and improve mood. Even something as simple as walking.  
  3. Maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and avoiding excessive alcohol and caffeine consumption. 
  4. Prioritize time for activities you enjoy, such as golfing, reading, spending time in nature, knitting, swimming, etc.
  5. Seek social support from friends, family, or a therapist to talk about your feelings and receive emotional support. 
  6. Practice time management and organization to reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed and to increase your productivity. 
  7. Set boundaries and learn to say no to commitments that cause unnecessary stress. This is okay!!
  8. Engage in activities that promote/stimulate mindfulness, such as journaling, mindfulness meditation, or mindful walking. 
  9. Take breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge, especially during busy or stressful periods.
